KNOWING Syracuse and Syracuse University THRU EBAY

There is so much more to Syracuse and Syracuse University than what we just see around campus or when we go downtown. There are alot of items being sold at e-bay like old pictures of SU and Syracuse City that are very interesting. People are selling old pictures of the women's gym, football and basketball tickets in the 1970's, pictures from the 1913's graduation photo and all sort of things that make the mind imagine how historical and rich SU is. Downtown Syracuse had seen better days but if you look at the old pictures of Syracuse downtown buildings being sold at E-bay, you will know that it had a very rich and historical beginnings.

Even if you do not want to buy anything, and maybe just look around ebay on topics anything under the sun, one can LEARN about a lot of things that a common library or even a museum cannot offer.

Enjoy poking around E-Bay!

  1. Very good point,Ryan. It's a very interesting angle to take advantage of eBay. I’ve never thought of knowing history of the Syracuse University and the Syracuse City from this way before. It appears that eBay is just like a huge musieum including not only commercial articles, but history and culture as well.

  2. This is an interesting point: learning about a place or topic through what you can find on eBay regarding that place or topic. I've never really thought about that. There are certainly cultural lessons to be learned through the eBay value of artifacts from various places. You're right, learning through eBay can offer a history and overview of significant people and events given a search topic/place. The monetary values placed on various artifacts give a particularly interesting perspective on what kinds of things certains cultures value and what they do not. I like this idea and look forward to playing with it in the classroom.

  3. Wow, I didn't know the rich history of Syracuse University and the city itself. I grew up in Iowa so I didn't know much about the northeast or of Syracuse. It is very interesting that you can sell/but photos of Syracuse on EBAY. Some of the buildings here are phenominal
